REFLECTIONS
Hello again—Last month felt never ending compared to the quick hello of February, I blinked and she was gone. It’s funny the last time I wrote something here was also a reflection of March. I am reminded that the world in which I exist in is more cyclical rather than linear. This was reflected to me last year when I once again found my soul struggling to find purpose + joy during the summer months. Rather than looking at summer in a traditional way, maybe summer is my time for wintering, to go inward and restore my creative soul. I feel the most creative and inspired in the the quieter months of the year, when most of the world is slumbering. My point is that our internal seasons do not have to look like the ones forced upon us by society. As creatives we can and must acknowledge that our souls often crave something different, so outside the boundaries in which most of the world like to stay safely behind.
At the start of the year I decided to leave my job to pursue my art practice full time. I struggle deeply with this idea of being a full time artist even though my soul really wont stand for anything else. The part of my brain that has been conditioned to believe that being an artist is a luxury, burden, unstable, likes to get very loud and confuse the shit out of me when I start to walk down this path. This time there was a quiet knowing that there really was no other choice but this, to be an artist. My art takes many shapes, writing, cooking, painting, researching, making, collecting, the list goes on. My practice cannot fit into a nice tidy box, it needs room to grow and shift with the seasons and my curiosity.
So I have an offering for you all. It is a culmination of my past zines, monthly investigations and that constant curiosity I just mentioned. Once a month you can find an offering called “Last Month” a collection of whatever I dove deep into, was inspired by, stumbled across. Anything that my soul connected with and wants to share.
This my creative reciprocity. My hope is this becomes a place where you come to be introduced to something new, where you come to be inspired, maybe where you come to have your cup filled.

CURIOSITIES
ART IS A SPIRITUAL LANGUAGE
I’m not sure where to start with this podcast episode. Kening Zhu is an aritst I greatly admire. Her podcast, Botanical Studies of Internet Magic podcast has really changed my world and somehow reached deep into my soul and pulled out all the conversations I have been so desperate to have. If I could tell every artist in the world who is wishing to embark on being an artist full time I would urge them to listen to this episode. Even if you aren’t an artist this is still such an import conversation.

BOOK MAKING
I have been doing a deep dive into all the ways in which one can create their own books. I love the idea of using different materials, making the book a work of art within itself.

PAPER TWINE
I’m deep in this new obsession. Shifu is a traditional Japanese textile art of weaving cloth using thread spun from high-quality paper. Typically washi made from kozo. Find me here for the next few months.

I have been busy working on a new collection, I am really excited about this body of work. It is a culmination of my go-to modalities as well as a gentle exploration of many new ones. New practices that have been waiting patiently in the background until I had the space to explore them.
A NEW COLLECTION OF WORK
The collection is called J U P I T E R — the planet of expansion and abundance. This energy is what I am calling into my life as I embark on this new chapter, as I embrace my souls purpose to create art.
