Witchy Home Decor You Won't Find at Target

Every October, a new batch of Halloween decorations floods the aisle of every store, advertisements push us a slightly updated version of the same thing we saw last year. Most of it is made to be used for a few weeks, shoved in a bin, and eventually thrown away. I'd love to do this season a little differently.

This time of year, nature puts on its strangest and most beautiful show. Gourds dry into sculptural shapes, seed pods split open, spider webs glint in the early morning light, and everything slowly returns to the earth. Autumn invites us to slow down and get curious about the natural world, and our homes can reflect that too. So this edit leans into nature's curiosities: dried gourds and corn husks, bones, stones and webs, beeswax, iron, and clay. Many pieces are from nature, some invite you to get in touch with your inner witch, and several are vintage finds that have already lived a whole life before reaching you.

What ties them together is that none of them are meant to be thrown away on November 1st. These are pieces to invest in once and live with for years, and some of them would look just as at home year round as they do in October.

Here's what I'd bring home this season.

1. Vintage Serpentine Iron Wall Sconces

Buying vintage is one of the most sustainable ways to decorate, and these sconces prove it can be the most beautiful way, too. The pair is vintage black wrought iron, each one a single sweeping line that loops out from a round wall plate and curls up like a snake to hold a candle. They've already lasted decades, and they'll last decades more. Light them with black tapers in October and cream ones in spring. They belong on your wall all year.

4. Sculptural Loop Beeswax Taper

A candle that's basically a piece of art. Each taper is hand-dipped in beeswax and shaped into a fluid, looping twist without any molds, so every one comes out a little different. It's minimal and organic, and it burns with that warm honey glow only beeswax gives you. Put a single one on a side table or line a few down the center of your Halloween dinner.

7. Sunburst Ceramic Candle Sconce

Part wall art, part lantern, this handmade clay sconce takes its shape from the sun itself. A tea light sits in its arched opening, and the silver and platinum glaze shimmers as the flame flickers. As the days grow shorter, candlelight becomes one of the simplest ways to bring warmth indoors, and this is a piece you'll reach for every dark evening between now and spring.

10. Natural Gourd Ornaments

Gourds are one of autumn's great curiosities: grown through the summer, then left to dry until their skins harden into natural sculptures. This set of six is naturally dried and cleaned, with every shape, texture, and marking left exactly as nature made it. Hang them from a branch or string them into a garland. Because they're dried, they'll keep for years instead of rotting on your porch like a fresh pumpkin.

13. Real Preserved Spider Web

Yes, it's a real spider web, and it's absolutely stunning. Each one was spun by an orb weaver spider, collected only after the spider abandoned it, and mounted on black card stock with a protective clear coat, so it's completely cruelty-free. Up close it looks like the most delicate gothic lace. Frame it and hang it for a piece of Halloween art that's genuinely one of a kind.

16. Witches Bells for Your Door

Witches bells are an old folk tradition, hung on a door to protect the home and clear out stagnant energy each time it opens. This set strings a cascade of small dark bells on braided cord and comes in several colors. It isn't really a seasonal decoration at all but something meant to stay on your door year round, which may be why it's so loved, with hundreds of glowing reviews.

A few Object Series Pieces to add to your walls this Halloween season…

2. Vintage Coiled Snake Candleholder

If you loved the serpentine sconces right above, meet their tabletop cousin. This 1960s Brutalist candleholder is forged from iron into a single coiled snake, looping into a spiral base before rising to hold one taper. The snake is one of nature's oldest symbols of renewal, shedding its skin and beginning again, which feels fitting for a season all about transformation. It's a one-of-a-kind piece you'll keep on your shelf long after Halloween.

5. The Selkies Vow Taper Set

For anyone drawn to folklore and the sea. These hand-dipped organic beeswax tapers come in intertwined pairs, their twin wicks meeting before they part, and each pair is crowned with a sculpted spiral seashell. They're inspired by the selkie legends of seals who shed their skins to walk on land, a story about the wild pull of nature. Light them on an autumn evening, or save them for a full moon.

8. Blackened Beeswax Pumpkins

The perfect answer to the foam pumpkins you'd toss in a month. These chunky pumpkins are hand-poured in blackened beeswax and topped with real dried pumpkin stems, so they're made from natural materials start to finish. They come scented with cinnamon oil or unscented, in two sizes around 3 and 4 inches wide. Pack them away with care each year, and they'll come back out season after season.

11. Canteen Gourd Trio

From the same farm as the gourd ornaments, this trio of medium canteen gourds has squat, round bodies and long, twisting stems. They're naturally dried and mottled with unique markings, which gives them a beautifully weathered, heirloom look. Stack them on a console or scatter them along the table for harvest decor that feels more like a still-life painting than a craft store display.

14. Bone Chime Home Ward

This is the statement piece for the true earthy witch. The hanging ward is made from ethically gathered bones that the maker cleans by hand, bound with twine to a larger bone and finished with a matte coat to help protect them. It's meant to cleanse the energy of your home, and it works on an indoor wall or hung outside, where the pieces spin and clank together in the wind. Just note that it's heavy and naturally fragile, so hang it from something sturdy.

17. Hand-Carved Stone Ghosts

The sweetest pieces in the edit, and some of the most natural. These three little ghosts are hand-carved from stone found near the makers' New Hampshire home, so each one is unique in color, texture, and shape. Stone lasts practically forever, which makes these a true investment. Tuck them into the garden, where they'll weather beautifully through every season, or let them peek out from a bookshelf.

Object Series 2026 | No. 12
$88.00

The Object Series is an exploration of the familiar and the forgotten.

Inspired by everyday objects, forms found in nature, and symbols whose meanings have slowly disappeared from memory, these works consider the way objects can carry stories long after we have forgotten what they once meant.

This piece features a bold, hand-painted black form set against warm vintage-style paper. The ambiguous shape invites interpretation—it might suggest an object, a symbol, a vessel, or something entirely imagined. Rather than defining the form, I wanted to leave space for the viewer to decide what they see.

Painted in oil, each work in the Object Series is created by hand and intentionally retains the subtle variations and marks of the painting process. The restrained palette and graphic form allow the work to feel equally at home in a quiet, collected interior or as part of a larger gallery wall.

3. Vintage Brutalist Candlestick Pair

These candlesticks look like two little figures about to walk off your mantel. The 1970s pair is made from metal with a hand-forged look, balanced on looping tripod legs, and finished in a dark, mottled patina that gives them a wonderfully Brutalist edge. They're sculptural and a little playful at the same time, and they'd look amazing on a dining table with a couple of mismatched tapers.

6. Sculptural Ceramic Candelabra

This handmade ceramic candelabra holds three tapers at different heights, and its organic, bone-like shape looks striking even when the candles aren't lit. The glaze is the real star: earthy terracotta mottled with deep charcoal, black, and muted green, so it reveals something different from every angle. It's a centerpiece that feels ancient and modern at the same time.

9. Primitive Corn Husk Wreath

This wreath is autumn in its most honest form: real corn husks, dried slowly by hand and secured to a wire frame, with no preservatives, chemicals, or dyes. It's the harvest turned into something beautiful instead of something discarded. At around 28 inches across, it has a wild, textural look on a front door, and its soft, bleached tones mean it can stay up well into winter, or all year on an inside wall.

12. Horned Water Chestnut Seed Pods

These might be the most delightfully strange thing on the list. They're real dried water chestnut seed pods, ethically hand-collected from a river in Upstate New York, and each one has a natural horned shape that looks uncannily like a tiny bat. Scatter them across a mantel, fill a cloche, or use them in spell jars and shadow boxes. They come in packs from 15 to 250, depending on how far you want to take it.

15. Black Natural Witch Broom

Every witch needs a broom, and this one is so much better than the flimsy party-store version. It's handmade from natural birch, finished in black and tied with twine, with a wonderfully wild, untamed look. It comes in several sizes, from a 26-inch mini to a full 59-inch broom, so you can lean one by the front door or group a few together for maximum drama.

18. Vintage Brutalist Pottery Owl

Owls are the unofficial familiar of every witch, and this one has so much character. It's a 1970s handmade pottery sculpture in dark terra cotta brown, with a chunky body, tiny wings and claws, and huge cream-gray eyes that look right through you. It's heavy and substantial, signed on the bottom by the artist, and a true one-of-one vintage find.
